Board President, CEO and Cofounder

Malika Redmond is the co-founder and CEO of Women Engaged, an initiative based in Atlanta, GA.  Malika has worked for 20 years both nationally and internationally managing projects that focus on women’s human rights, racial justice, and youth empowerment.
Malika holds a BA from Spelman College and MA from Georgia State University.

M. Bahati Kuumba, PhD

Board  Chair

Professor of Comparative Women’s Studies and associate director of the Women’s Center, Dr. Kuumba mentors the next generation of scholar-activists.  In addition, she facilitates the Toni Cade Bambara Scholars/Writers/Activism Program and annual conference that engages students from all majors in consciousness-raising lectures, dialogues and projects.

With over 20 years in the fitness industry, she has empowered individuals to achieve their wellness goals through personalized coaching and innovative training programs. Her mission is to inspire healthier communities, through movement and education as a dedicated wellness professional and choreographer. Dupree brings a unique blend of creativity and expertise to the Fitness industry over the past two decades and has led transformative programs that have positively impacted thousands of lives.

Women Engaged is a thriving social justice organization based in Georgia, celebrating 11 years of effective people-centered change. As we move into the future, we are seeking passionate, values-aligned people to join our dynamic Board of Directors to help shape the next decade of impact and transformation!
Our goal is to have an intergenerational board of thoughtful, goal-oriented, generous, team players who have integrity and are rooted in duty to community, committed to problem-solving, and building the visibility and resources of Women Engaged to actualize our mission and vision.

Board Member Expectations

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per month, including any board meetings and/or committee work.
Fundraising Commitment: Work to raise $2k a year through individual donors giving.
Engagement: Attend events, participate in strategic planning, and advocate for our mission.
